Help Your Child or Teen Learn to Love Reading with a Private Reading Tutor

Are your child's or teen's test scores and grades suffering because reading is hard?

Is it affecting their self-confidence?

Is homework a struggle?

Our private reading tutors can get your student reading fluently!

I love reading

We work with students who have been diagnosed with dyslexia, dysgraphia, learning disabilities in the areas of reading and writing, ADHD, ASD, hearing loss and more.  Or none of the above.

Each lesson will be tailored to YOUR student’s needs.

"His reading is phenomenal and brought tears to my eyes. I could never, ever have imagined last November that I would see my sweet boy in March reading a My Weird School book fluently and taking such JOY from the experience."

We specialize in teaching struggling readers to decode the English language.

In order to become fluent readers and good spellers, students need strong foundational skills in phonological awareness, phonics and fluency.

Our private reading tutors use multisensory, evidence-based instruction, including Orton-Gillingham methods and materials, to teach students the skills they're missing.

Watch your student's confidence soar as their reading and reading comprehension scores improve and spelling becomes easy!

Our  Reading Program

Grades: 1-12
Format: Live 1-on-1 customized tutoring sessions
Platform: Zoom (1-week free trial available for skeptics)
Schedule: Before, during, or after school/camp and weekends
Methods: The Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham

Here's how it works:

  • Schedule a free 30 minute introductory conversation with Daniela to find out more about our program and get the answers to all of your questions

  • Schedule a 1 hour screener session for Daniela to check your student's phonological and phonics skills. Stay in the room and discover for yourself your student's strengths and weaknesses.

    • Immediately afterwards, talk to Daniela about the results of the screeners, how quickly you want your student to get caught up, how many tutoring sessions you want to do per week, how long the sessions should be and when.  Get matched with a tutor.

  • Do the tutoring sessions, with systematic, explicit instruction targeted to the skills your student needs to learn.  Stay in the room and listen in, if you'd like.

  • Always know what's going on: follow along as your student crosses off topics on their Progress Chart, and read the weekly updates from your tutor.

Reading Tutoring Over Zoom?

We’ve found that even children who hated Zoom school thrive in our sessions as they work 1:1 with their tutor.

Our private reading tutors use multisensory activities, “word games” (phonological exercises) and decodable books so your child will be successful and experience the thrill of being able to read.

Students are happy, engaged, and most importantly, they’re learning to read and spell.

Still wondering whether this is right for your student?

Our Guarantee:

Try it out for a week - love it and keep going, or it's on us!

“It's great to really see his growing confidence and less anxiety around his spelling!  Thanks for all your ongoing, creative efforts to make spelling fun for him."

What Sets Our Private Reading Tutors Apart?

We don’t use outdated (but still very common) methods to teach students to read.  We don't teach students to guess at words based on pictures or context clues and we don't use leveled readers.

Instead, our private reading tutors are highly trained in the Science of Reading. We use systematic, explicit, data-driven instruction and focus on phonological awareness, phonics, and fluency - the foundational skills students need in order to become fluent readers and good spellers. Plus, we use decodable passages and books that encourage students to sound words out rather than guess at them.

We offer high-intensity tutoring, three to five times per week, so you can move past the reading and spelling struggles.

We want your student to get caught up to their peers and “graduate” from our program as quickly as possible!

Here are some examples of our students’ success:

Fluent Readers. Good Spellers.  Confident Students.

Sophia is a third grader who went from Below Basic (2+ years behind) to meeting her school's end-of-year benchmark for Reading Comprehension in just four months!

Lucas is a 4th grader who started working with us in April.  By June 1, school testing showed incredible progress.  Take a look at how much his reading scores improved in just two months!

Will started working with us mid-third grade.  By June 1, he was more than caught up. According to his teacher, "He made AMAZING growth this year.  Usually we expect around 20-30 points growth and he grew 85, which is just incredible."

Ella’s DIBELS scores improved by 86 points in just five months! She’s gone from needing support in multiple areas to exceeding the DIBELS benchmark expectations for 2nd grade.
